HOUR EYES - Tracey Moberly
HOUR EYES is an interim photographic exhibition with the village community of Fochriw in the South Wales Valleys. The exhibition lays a dry stone wall of stepping stones to the completion of the project and final exhibition of an exceptional rural, post-industrial community.
HOUR EYES captures the cultural heritage of this important community.
HOUR EYES i is an intricate study of the inner workings of a village community from the newborn to the grandparent; the medicine cabinet to the fruit bowl; the changing seasons and fluidity of nature; the Poundland store to a trip to Harrod’s; the AM and Parliament to the the Women Rights Memorials outside; the sports activities of youth reaching their hungry heights of achievement and success; the new nature forms of the Red Kite and Lesser Spotted Woodpecker; those lost at war time & personal tragedy – forever remembered; the exceptional lives of the wild horses that roam the commons and the sheep that graze as if feral and much much more ...
This is the interim exhibition calling out for more visuals from the community, from 3 years to 100+ years. The exhibition has been constructed by the Welsh and International artist Tracey Moberly working closely with the village school and Head teacher Sharon Pascoe and team along with the groups in the area including Spinning Yarns - Weaving Communities including the fabulous Friday Craft Group.
HOUR EYES has received support from the Cwm a Mynydd Rural Development Programme for Caerphilly and Blaenau Gwent and is funded through the Welsh Governments Rural Communities - Rural Development 2014-2020 programme. The project will be expanding and developing integral strands of work with the Pontypool based Kickplate Project and the Wales International Documentary Festival 2018.
