A MOSAIC of the Bible story of creation was unveiled today by Olympic athelete Paula Thomas.
It was the result of 18 months' work by young pupils of St Philip's Church of England primary school in Hulme and the creative skill of artist Tracey Sanders-Wood.
The school, in the heart of a multi-ethnic area, voted for the Biblical theme as one all children of different faiths could relate to.
The mosaic includes animals set against a huge golden sun. Adam an Eve are made of mirrored glass to ensure children see a reflection of themselves.
Artist Tracey Sanders-Wood said she was encouraged by the children's enthusiasm.
"Hulme has a history of artists living and working in the area and this energy has filtered down to the local kids" she said.
The Creation mosaic is one of a series of eight she has created in Hulme and is part-funded by Hulme Regeneration.
