Tracey's Aquarius Art
November 1996
Plans have now been unveiled for the brick sculpture which will go on the wall of the new Aquarius Community Centre at Martenscroft.
Local artist, Tracey sanders-Wood, whose designs already adorn the walls of several local schools, displayed her drawings for local residents recently at Guinness Trust's new offices in Freeman square. "The sculpture is based on Aquarius, the eleventh sign of the zodiac," explains Tracey "and starts with three womb shaped vessels appearing to pour water down the side of the building and onto the path below. The 'water' forms three flowing shapes which represent the progressive stages of a woman's pregnancy and below that will be a section full of marks made by all the users of the centre." Residents will be visiting the brick factory over the next few weeks to see the special glazed bricks being made and to contribute with their own individuals marks. "It's great that everyone will get a chance to have an input into the fabric of their new building," says Tracey
