Bright start for kids
Friday July 9 1999
TWO community artists have given a nursery school a new look. Jai Moodie and Tracey sanders-Wood designed an apple tree mural at Trafalgar Nursery School in Ashton Under Lyne. They were invited by headteacher Barbara James who said: "I just felt we needed to make the playground more inviting." Money from the venture came from Ashton Assembly, a Tameside council body which deals with community affairs. Tracey said: "I've done a great deal of work in inner city areas and a great deal of community art. The people were very supportive." Pupils chose the designs at a meeting with the artists and planted apple trees in the grounds.
