People: Benn's Voice is Art
MOnday 25 April 2005
The sonorous voice of Tony Benn will soon blare out around the clock in the fashionable London district of Shoreditch. As part of an exhibition celebrating the work of the former Labour MP, a passionate advocate of the oral tradition, tapes of his audio diaries will be broadcast outside a gallery. The artist Tracey Moberly (nee Sanders-Wood) has rendered Benn's rich tones as visual art works by creating a series of 'voice portraits' in the form of colourful sonograms on canvas.
