BEYOND PORNOGRAPHY
nov/dec 2003
SLAUGHTERHOUSE GALLERY, BRICK LANE, LONDON 27 NOVEMBER TO 27 DECEMBER
Avid fans of Flux may recognise the title of this exhibition as three years ago Tracey Sanders-Wood presented a 'FLUX SPACE' of the same title. The piece - a scan of an x-ray of her womb, displayed life and death side by side, an unborn child and cancer tumour. All was portrayed in her trademark pink. This piece has now been resurrected for this potent exhibition as well as being the inspiration for the title. All the work on show will be presented in a purpose built environment with six entrances, apparently to represent 'a sexual gender preference'. Other artists to look out for are Jo Holland whose photographic constructions reveal quite literally phallic interpretations of dissected fruit, vegetables and flowers and Bill Drummond whom I'm guessing is the person who has put himself up for sale at £20,000, to 'Be Your Whore'.
