Boarded up houses and flats in Trafford will soon appear lively and colourful with the help of artists Jai moodie and Tracey sanders-Wood. Doors and windows will provide a showcase for larger than life, brightly coloured paintings of the home environment, to coincide with rebuilding projects. As part of the Environment Arts Project in Trafford, the pair were commissioned by Manchester District Housing Association and Trafford Council to create the hoardings. Jai, from Hulme and Tracey, from Moss Side, based their work on drawings and paintings by children, councillors and housing officials during workshops. The overall theme being 'the home', the paintings will depict views and aspects of home life, as experienced personally, or seen from the street. Around 40 boards will go up by the end of March.
