Text Me Up
Tracey Moberly
September 2011
You'd think a book by an artist who has saved all her text messages from 1999 might be a bit scant on words, but this book is rammed. Part scrap book, part diary, it's punctuated with chronotogical text correspondences, and contemporary text cross referencing. The whole thing has an attention delicit friendly layout, which lends itself to being dipped in and out. Loads of arty types crop up, from Bill Drummond to Aiden Shaw, delving into an inspiring amount of mediums (balloon racing and cross stitching). Any of the potential pretentiousness gives way to an unglossy, honest warmth.
