Shutters of many colours
Tuesday January 29 1999
PASSERS by on Princess Road, Moss Side, have found a new entertainment - watching community artists Tracey Sanders Wood and Jai Moodie at work.
They have been commissioned by the Moss Side and Hulme Partnership as part of the regeneration of the area. Already the pair have turned the grim steel shutters of seven shops into colourful displays of what goes on inside the shops. "We live in the area and have had some good feedback. The response has been very encouraging," says Tracey a lecturer at the Metropolitan University. Jai commented: "Some people stop to watch us at work and check progress almost daily." In our picture, Jai left, and Tracey are at work on a fruit shop.
